Sitting service

I have a son with a learning disability he is 42,I am his full time carer,am wondering if I can get some advice on an organisation who could help by looking after my son for up to 4hours on a weekend?he has 2siblings but they have moved on with their own lives,:smirk:

Claire, my son has severe learning difficulties, 40 next month.

It’s really important to start thinking long term, towards when you will no longer be able to care for him. Please ask Social Services to do a Needs Assessment for your son, and a Carers Assessment for yourself.

Hi Claire,
welcome to the forum.
Does your son having funding for this or do you through a carer’s assessment? If so, you could ask an agency to provide a sitting service or use direct payments and pay someone you know or advertise for, to sit with him. Alternatively, you could look out for clubs that run in your area, that he could attend to give you a break.

So long as it’s NOT a family member … there are problems … more details if needed.
