Hi

You are not alone - there are lots of us on here and plenty to chat to and from whom you can get support as many of us feel the same way. Pop to “Roll Call” thread - here’s the link again

Welcome from me too. I find the run up to Christmas coupled with the long dark evenings very depressing. I’ve cared for all four parents, brother, sister in law, nephew and niece at various times as well as my brain damaged son, now 46. He doesn’t live with me any more but still needs me to do lots for him. I have had lots of health issues, now widowed and a bit disabled myself, after a car accident, and now riddled with arthritis. Everyone else seems to be talking about fun, shopping, party dresses etc. I’m wondering how I will get through and survive! My son with LD loves coming home, my eldest son lives with me, and my grandson will be here too. They all look forward to my cooking, but I secretly breathe a sigh of relief when it’s over. Then I take my sewing machine to a cottage in Devon or Dorset for a week of uninterrupted sewing!

Well, your escape sounds wonderful !

it is lonely and even if you do go out they are still there when you get home. Here is a place to vent and I felt it helped my loneliness. Just knowing you are not alone can help. Not all your friends will understand but mine have been very supportive. Do you have a support carers group you can attend locally?

Yes, I was just feeling it that day. Sometimes my spouse sleeps endlessly but since that day he has been present. It’s like a yo-yo of emotions and I’m very happy in my own company as I’m used to it. I think it’s good to have a place to vent for sure. Thank you
