A carers allowance question

Looking at claiming Carers Allowance (scotland) as going to be reducing hours at work to look after mum but i’m a bit concerned about the following

For most of this year i’ve been doing 33 hours a week and i’ve been paying tax on this. If I cut my hours at work down to 15hr/week then its very likely that i’m going to get tax refunds every payday right?

Will that be taken into consideration for the earnings threshold and screw me out of being able to claim til the new tax year?

Hi @Graham_2104 Simple answer: I don’t think any of us here would have a clue about that! Your best bet is to email the helpline (advice@carersuk.org) and ask them. They are the experts in this. Please do make it clear that you’re in Scotland, though, as the rules are somewhat different.
