Alzheimer’s disease is most likely to affect people over 65 years old and often starts with small memory issues. It is a progressive disease, meaning that the symptoms will get worse over time. Because of this, it is often hard to diagnose early, with early memory problems often being perceived as ‘part of the ageing process’. It is important that when you feel that the symptoms are getting worse or you notice someone close to you behaving abnormally, to consult a doctor. Though no cure is currently available, there are various ways to help relieve certain symptoms. For more information please visit : Alzheimer's disease - NHS. For family and friends it can be incredibly difficult to watch as someone close to you starts to change because of Alzheimer’s. It is important to remember that you can only do your best to support them and that supporting yourself is equally important.
