I have an idea that when a caree is admitted to hospital, if the family carer provides support, they are entitled to free or reduced parking, subsidised meals etc. However, I can’t think where this is specified? Can anyone help?
I think this is down to individual hospitals/trusts.
The hospitals in our area do have reduced parking schemes for both outpatients and certain visitor categories. At both my local hospital and it’s sister hospital in Epsom you need to speak to the ward sister/manager who will complete the necessary form on your behalf. I expect that it is the same for all hospitals.
It’s down to individual trusts. Our local hospitals trust introduced things like food and drink for carers before covid but I suspect it was dropped. Even when it was introduced it was left up to individual wards to spend out of their budgets.
I got free parking when Phil was in hospital but I think that was only after a month.
Southmead in Bristol DOES provide a pass for free parking, meals in staff canteen (not subsidised but a quiet area than the main “Atrium” which is noisy and only has Costa or vending machines which dont show prices til you start purchasing!! or a small shop which loads prices…
I was going to ask about this but no one has been available to sort it as the Ward Admin have to fill in forms to get the pass !!! It is given for seven days at a time for someone spending at east three hours a day helping a patient. I QUALIFY !!! Oh Parking isnt guaranteed and for me that means I may not get a space anyway!!
