Hello everyone my name is Lorraine I am both mother and full time
carer to my daughter amy whio is 23 with both autism and a leaning disability. I am looking to find out where and how I apply for a Carers Card please
Thank you.
In Hampshire they issue a companion bus pass to my son, as he needs a carer to travel with him. It’s really useful when I ask if someone has a Carer Goes Free Scheme. Some places can be difficult, they should be asking for proof that the person concerned needs a carer with them. Paid carers usually have ID badges, we don’t.
Hi Lorraine … welcome to an extremely quiet forum as I type.
A Carers Card … akin to El Dorado in carer circles ?
Several variations of a Carers Card are available … mostly issued by some LAs and organisations which
lead to discounts on goods / services / attractions.
As for a card that is recognised nationwide … no such beast.
Rather than me postings links to previous threads on the same subject , what do you have in mind for a Carers Card ?
What benefits are you seeking from such a card … assuming it existed ???
( 1,547 references to a CARERS CARD within forum postings over the years. )
I can then point you in the right direction.
.
Interestingly, I found something written by Carers UK referring to “Carers Passports”! No date.
Yep … new one for me as well . BB :

A Carer Passport is a record which identifies a carer in some way and sets out an offer of support, services or other benefits in response. A Carer Passport helps to improve and embed identification, recognition and support for carers in the day-to-day life of an organisation or community.
At Carers UK, we have been working in partnership with Carers Trust, with funding from the Department of Health and Social Care, on a project designed to help local areas introduce Carer Passports in five key settings - > hospitals, employment, community, education and mental health trusts.
The Carer Passport website makes the case for setting up a Carer Passport scheme in your community or organisation, giving you resources and guidance to help you transform recognition and support for carers. If you would like to develop an existing Carer Passport scheme, the site is also full of good practice examples and tools to help you make the most of your existing Carer Passport scheme.
Carer Passport schemes have developed in many different settings but none of these organisations is required to run a Carer Passport scheme. While running a scheme can be a big undertaking, the benefits of doing so – to carers, to the organisations themselves, to the wider community – are clear. By drawing attention to these benefits, we aim to inspire more organisations to set up effective schemes.
Aimed at the supporting circus … everything but a badge to be worn for THEIR benefit ???
Anyone on here ever been consulted by CUK BEFORE this " Scheme " was announced.
Anyone see any REAL benefit … even if it worked ???
Do CUK NOT know the present state of affairs with ALL 5 of the institutions mentioned ???
