You are not getting any younger. It’s important to consider what would happen if you were suddenly taken ill. We thought we were fit as fleas at 50. At 54 I had major cancer surgery, at 56 I was nearly killed, disabled in a car accident. My husband died suddenly in his sleep at 58. At very least I would suggest one consistent person to help you.
@Jackie66 that is good news, and that they have a process which so easily put these on hold suggests this is not the first time this has happened. An apology would be too much to ask for, sad isn’t it. They see us carers as the enemy almost rather than working with us to improve.
It is your word but based on the evidence of his ill health since being admitted there.
My friend has carers who come in and they are really nice, so there are good ones out there. This enables her to go out, she goes on holiday and leaves her husband to their care, so she has a lot of freedom. After really debating if she wanted them she has found so much freedom with getting them in to help her. Again, you need to get the CHC process in place so that it is paid for. My friend pays a nominal contribution only the rest is paid by CHC.
A lot to think over but at least you have some space with the invoices being suspended.
Keep strong and sending hugs
I had an email today they said the Social worker hasnt done anything wrong because the home at that point was still taking in residents and that is that basically. I will re read it but its difficult as i only have my phone and theres alot to read. Hes been in bed again today as very tired after getting up for few hours yesterday. I didnt visit today and i cancelled councelling i just feel exhausted mentally The Manager said gp asked about the DNR. i said he already has one its in the care home records given when he came out of hospital i dont know whats going on at that place, i would have thought she could have checked
Can I ask if you are worried about being able to use a tablet or similar?
It would make life so much easier with a larger screen.
I have a tablet i use for watching films on prime, well before all this happened im not good with files and uploading etc
@Jackie66 they are trying to deflect. Your argument is that you are not paying for the care home as the care home is not ‘caring’ the main function it has. Your contract is with the care home and they are in breach. That is what you are saying.
If the Local Authority argue that they are the people you have a contract with then it does not take away the breach, they are charging for a service which you are not getting. The fact that the home was taking people in at the time your partner went in does not take away the fault. They should have made sure that the home was suitable, not just open.
An analogy is if you buy a Hotpoint washing machine from Curry’s your contract is with Curry’s and they are the people who need to remedy any breach of contract. They need to supply goods of a suitable quality and the LA needs to provide services of a suitable quality.
I think @bowlingbun is right a bigger screen would help as I hate using my phone for any thing other than texts and calls. Use your tablet for reading etc. You will not need to upload files necessarily. Also ask for a hard copy to be sent so you have easier access. If you are uncertain how to get it set up take it to your local library as they are usually very helpful.
Stay strong
I understand what your saying its wrong, thet are still investigating the rest of the complaint but the home could likely try to worm their way out of it all. Only option left then be the ombudsmen.
Im feeling very very tired if i dont go today it be 2 days but i dont think i can. I think im running on empty at moment, it was adrenaline but im worn out mentally i think
Yes, they will try to get out of it, but you can stand firm when that happens. I think your priority is to protect your health.
You are not paying and have explained why, so you can just put that on the back burner. Take time today to think about your own needs. You do not have to go every day, you need to look after yourself. A nice cup of tea in a sunny garden perhaps, a walk in peace and quiet or just relax with a book. Take time
Ok i will rest today, thankyou for supporting me it means so much to have soneone on my side xx
My Daughter and i visited today i didnt think there was going to be any more incidents we could get upset over but there was and another thing to add to cqc i guess. The double plug socket behind Johns bed is detached from the back of the casing with all of its wiring exposed and a lampshade with metal i think plugged into that. You just couldnt make this stuff up. Its probably full of dust so a double fire hazard. They said sent message to manager and odd job man cant visit until tomorrow i expect. I said im not leavng until its switched off at least. This feels like the last straw now. New anti biotics not started or steroids.as chemist.didnt have. Nobody actually.cares about these residents im starting to feel.paranoid that its being done on purpose even
Did you take a picture? That’s incredibly dangerous for staff as well as patients!
@Jackie66 that is awful. Try to take time for yourself too, that is important. Sending hugs
Yes we did and i havw sent the photo to the council
Ive hit exhaustion today i think yesterday last straw for me. Im not even sure i can fight anymore.
Social worker emailed this morning asked me if ive viewed the home i spoke about and im ashamed to say i havnt. I feel broken right now, no strength. Just want to thank you and bowling bun for standing by me i really appreciate you both i feel like your friends. Im just so sad right now
Hi,
That is normal. Ignore the pressure and accept you can’t do it all.
Take time for yourself, that is not selfish it is essential.
Say you haven’t as you are exhausted and you are protecting your physical and mental health. You will view when you are able.
Look after yourself x
I didnt hear anything would it be an email?
Thanks
Jackie
Ok i will do, im going to try and slow down im getting back twinges and all sorts….thanks xx
Hi @Jackie66 I will chase this up for you. Sometimes they post on the thread, but usually it’s an email.
It can take a couple of days for the helpline to answer - depends on how many advisors are available and how busy they are, but you will get some answers/advice. Plus it was gone 5pm when Melly alerted them so I doubt that anyone has been able to look at it yet.
Thankyou ive tried to rest i have sciatica which is causing me to rest abit too. I received part of complaint dealt with by council it states that John was independant and offered drinks when he was admitted they said when they rang me on the day he was taken to hospital i said John doesnt overly drink because of keeping going to toilet and her response if they had known that he would have been assessed more thoroughy as part of their tests i do not remember her saying that at all but i might have said about him not drinking to avoid toilet because he was but i would have though in a heatwave he would have been monitored as he had just arrived surely. They also said he didnt have Sepsis it wasnt on discharge letter but Doctors told myself and my Daughter he had Sepsis. We can contact the ombudsmen now but is their any point if they are saying this i just dont know. Anothrr part of complaint is still to be considered
