Greetings

Hello all

I live with my husband who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. Im working part time and studying part time. It is quite challenging to keep everything going.
We are moving in a couple of weeks and it really stresses him out. Any advice on how to make it easier for him would be appreciated. I feel very thinly stretched
Thank you

Hi Monika and welcome,

Moving is stressful for most people, let alone someone with MH issues.

Planning, preparation and be as organised as possible should help make it less stressful. Make sure the things that are important to your husband are easy to find. There are lots of hints on Mumsnet re moving, might be worth a look.

Hi Monika,

Wishing you a warm welcome to the forum!

This sounds like a really difficult situation for you both. As Melly1 has said, moving can be a stressful time. The following online directory may be useful to seek advice about caring for a person with mental health problems: UK Helplines

The Mind website also has information that may be useful: https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/helping-someone-else/carers-friends-family-coping-support/supporting-someone-with-a-mental-health-problem/

You might also find it helpful to contact the Carers UK Helpline on on 0808 808 7777 (Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm) or advice@carersuk.org for advice regarding your circumstances.

Carers UK are running online weekly meet ups for carers to take some time for themselves and chat to other carers. If this is something you are interested in, you can find more information here: Online meetups | Carers UK

Best wishes,
Abi

Welcome to the forum.
I studied for a degree in Business Studies part time, when my children were small. Pure escapism, something other than my disabled son to think about, in the hope that later I could have a career.
Would you like your husband to be around to help, to be somewhere else when you move, or extra help to move?
