Attendence Allowance who can claim?

A 76 year old lady, was living normally but relatives notice unusual behaviour, wandering etc.

Relatives have arranged carers to go around a few times a day to help.

Can she claim attendence allowance?
I know can’t claim PIP as over 65.

Not sure about the savings situation, owns the house but if under £23000 should the LA help with the cost of carers?

Hasn’t had a needs assessment or anything i don’t think.

Any other benefits help available?

The Claimee has to have some form of recognised disability (or be terminally ill).

Attendance Allowance isn’t means tested so it doesn’t matter what other money you get. It doesn’t matter how much you have in savings either - there’s no limit. It won’t affect your state pension and you can claim it if you’re still working and earning money.

You need to have reached State Pension age to claim Attendance Allowance - check your State Pension age on GOV.UK. You also need to have a disability or illness that makes it hard for you to look after yourself.

Lots of people are entitled to Attendance Allowance but don’t know enough about it to claim.

You could get £59.70 or £89.15 a week - the amount you get will depend on how much help you need. You can spend the money however you like - it could help you stay independent in your own home for longer.

The criteria used to be someone who needs a lot of help with daily living, help with their bodily functions, or without it would be danger to themselves or others.
