Hi
I am on the lowest rate of pip and hubby claims carers allowance for me. Im 68 and hubby is 65 and will be classed as a pensioner in Sept so as i understand it will no longer be able to claim it. Can we apply for attendance allowance?
If so also in the future would i be able to also apply for attendance allowance for him too? He doesnt have good health and has just been diagnosed with macular degeneration which will get worse so we bumble along helping each other as best we can
Hi @Gillian_22051234 welcome to the fourm. I am not sure if there is a age limit on attendance allowance as it seem that the dwp are setting age limits. I would suggest emailing the carers helpline you will find it here: Helpline and other support | Carers UK.
all the best
If you are on Pip it continues after retirement, however after retirement you can’t claim for mobility issues! It’s very important you both speak to a benefits advisor asap!
Thats not correct - you keep your mobility award you already get after you reach retirement age but you cant increase it even if your mobility gets worse
Exactly. You can’t claim it after a certain age but if you get it already you keep receiving it. I once helped someone claim 2 weeks before the deadline!
