It’s heartening to see that unlike the NHS ‘consultation’ they’re reaching out to try to be inclusive to everyone - this is what I read on teh FAQs - so I hope Carers UK will have specific group discussions
“Our independent partners will work with trusted community groups, charities and care organisations to reach these people and others who may find it harder to take part. This could include smaller group discussions, one-to-one conversations or more informal ways of sharing views.”

@Victoria_1806 thankyou Victoria. I watched him this morning on this morning.and the conference and the news.he said today that in the summer he will be travelling to different areas of the country to care homes and speaking to the residents in the care homes and places to get the peoples views .And that up to now they have 3 different options they could go with but want to see what people have to say first.

@Victoria_1806 , I’d prefer to see action, not words. Just so, current and future carers (un-paid ones) get better protection. I hope Andy Burnham can come it with proper proposals and policies that gives more help to unpaid carers.

@Victoria_1806 , cheers for that. I just felt it needed to be out there. I believe many governments, political parties, health authorities ignore us. 
As a former carer, it’s too late for me. But, not for other people.

@JohnnyBoy it won’t be just him Johnny he has asked other parties for there options to. And at the end of the day it will all come down to money. What they are able to do and afford to do to make a difference. And what will make the best difference. We will wait and see.

@Victoria_1806 thankyou Victoria I voted on all the questions people had put forward and I will add some of my own. I’d heard about it on the telly but did not know that we could do it online and would not have contributed if it was not for you. Thankyou for thinking of us all .x

@JohnnyBoy it won’t be just him Johnny he has asked other parties for there opinions to. And at the end of the day it will all come down to money. What they are able to do and afford to do to make a difference. And what will make the best difference. We will wait and see.

@Teddybear , aye fair point. I sad that when it comes to the point of money. It sound like caring and been a carer comes with a price tag. Profit over people. It’s pathetic.

Hampshire Social Services waste HUGE amounts of money because they are hopelessly inefficient. Many of the staff I’ve dealt with have never had any training on contract law although they are entering into contracts for thousands of pounds. There is no standard form for staff to use when managing clients money to do shopping etc.

, it’s that bad? I’d hate to think how much gets wasted. I’m amazed no authorities have looked into this. If not, then there should be an investigation.
Yes it IS that bad or even worse! Long ago I managed accounts for a hospital in Australia. With nothing more than a Maths O level at the time, I turned it round from worst performing to best performing in 2 years. (My Business degree came later). The ignorance of SSD staff is horrendous. When I was managing Direct Payments one provider just didn’t turn up for my son, repeatedly, on his shopping night, leaving him with just a can of beans for his tea. He was very annoyed. After my complaints were ignored I had to cancel their contract when they emailed me an hour after a visit to say it “was not convenient” to support him that night. I called a taxi and he came back to mine for about 6 weeks untl another provider was found by SSD. That one lasted 5 weeks, a catalogue of disasters. Then they told me another provider was available, only they were not. The one I wanted to use was refused because they were based in Bournemouth, not Hampshire. M lives right on the border. At one time I was told to pay one of the useless providers because “they are a small business and need the money”. I refused. If they wanted the money they should provide the service! I too was running a small business, sometimes working until 1 am to meet my own deadlines, not thought for me though.

@bowlingbun , I bet the SSD staff didn’t give a heck about you. Yet, I’m somehow not surprised. I hope these people were named and shamed. If not, they should be. Whoever they are, they should no longer be in business.
Quite the reverse, I’m afraid. It’s now on file that I refused to pay them so the council had to pay them instead. The b**ch that wrote this has made my life difficult ever since! So she called that "not managing DP’s properly! I asked for written evidence and her comment was “it’s a long time ago…” actually before she was even working for SSD, yet my file is tainted forever.

@bowlingbun , . Unbelievable. So she has made your life even more difficult? Oh dear. Anyway, you did not get the service you wanted, why should you pay? As for her comment, it doesn’t matter how long ago it was. At the end of the day, she said something that has besmirched your name. A shame you can’t sue her. one thing I do believe in though, karma. She’ll get what is coming to her.
I’ve now lost count of the number of formal complaints I’ve had to make. She has even ignored Ombudsman’s findings but honestly I’m too ill now to challenge much.

@bowlingbun , it’s a shame she and some of her ilk haven’t been shut down. WTF? No wonder those organizations get away with practically everything. I’m amazed a government minister or local councilor hasn’t got in on this. I hope someone someday will have the cajoles to confront her and shut her down for good. “Instant karma is going to get you” as John Lennon sang.
