Crowdlist app.

Did anyone else see this mentioned on the news yesterday? Edit: probably the day before (Thursday) as it’s now 12:10 am.

It’s an app that will show in real time the queues outside supermarkets, I guess it works pretty much the same as google traffic which basically checks on the movement (or not) of peoples mobile phones, but I can find nothing about it on the net, and nothing available under that name on Google Play.

H Ayjay,

That sounds useful. I had never heard of it but a web search suggests there is an app called Supermarket Check in - this was in mid-April though:

I’ve found it on the app store, with a rating of 3 out of 5. Will investigate, thanks.

The app immediately lists my local supermarkets, but the last check-in was 21 hours or 2 days ago. If lots of people used the app, it would be better.
It also appears I have to fill in details after I have been and left. I can then also say if certain goods were in stock, such as eggs, flour etc. It would take a while to fill in and I might not have looked at all the items instore. It therefore looks unlikely to me that enough people will use it. A shame!

Thanks Greta: it was definitely called Crowd List, (I jotted it down as soon as I heard the name so that I could investigate later), but I didn’t unfortunately see the whole news item, so maybe it’s not been fully developed yet.

I’ve pretty much got a handle on when to go my local supermarkets anyway, but it would be useful if I were to think of visiting some of the others: as in, I need some flour real soon, I don’t do much (any) baking, but thickening sauces and casseroles needs flour. I may still have some potato flour and some rice flour in the back of the cupboard from when swmbo was gluten free, (if the wee flour beasties haven’t got in it).

Ayjay - do you have any local “corner shops” in your area?

We’ve found that ours often have items that the supermarkets don’t have - like eggs and flour. They’re a little bit dearer but not extortionately so !

Yes there’s one or two dotted around, (some of them are even on a corner).

It might be worth a try, but I don’t hold out much hope, the flour disappeared from both the supermarkets that I usually use in the first wave of panic buying weeks ago and hasn’t re-appeared yet.

I keep thinking it’s only a matter of time, just like the toilet rolls, they’re freely available again now, as is almost everything else.

swmbo!

I have a local Turkish greengrocer who had lots of Romanian and Polish flour. The two kinds of Polish were two grades of cake flour, but he was seling them as plain and self-raising. They don’t have self-raising apparently so maybe he will get sued! But this doesn’t help you.

I’ve found it.

It’s called Crowdless. :unamused:

I don’t know if it works yet, but the link below will point you to either an Android or Apple download
