I am 73 years old and care for my husband aged 76 who has a multitude of medical issues ranging from epilepsy, memory problems, heart trouble (recently had a pacemaker), osteoarthritis, dyspraxia, bladder conditions and prostate cancer. He is scheduled for 2 and a half months radiotherapy commencing on 25 March. I got a phone call from the hospital yesterday stating that his body could not take the side effects of the radiotherapy and have scheduled 4 weeks instead. It scares me to think that 4 weeks may not be enough to eradicate the cancer. Does anyone have any suggestions. I too have heart problems (Sick Synus Syndrome)and have limited sight due to glaucoma. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Carol,
Welcome to the forum.
Are you getting any help with your husband’s care?
When did he last have a Needs Assessment from Social Services, and you, a Carers Assessment?
Is he receiving Attendance Allowance?
Have his memory problems been formally assessed?
