New(ish) carer just joined

Hi folks. I recently gave up work to care for my Wife. I made a claim for Carer Support Payment on December 5th 2025, but have so far had no response. I have contacted SS Scotland a couple of times, but was told “we’re busy, you just need to wait.”
Is this normal?

@Tazmaniandevil good afternoon, welcome to the forum. I’m sorry I don’t know anything about carers support Scotland. But on the carersuk.org website I have found this phone number. Carers Scotland phone number 0141 378 1065

Also there is Carersuk advice line phone number 0808 808 7777 .monday -Friday 9am to 6pm

.i have heard that things can take time. Hopefully the people on these phone lines can help you.have a nice day.

@Tazmaniandevil , it’s sad but true. a lot of the authorities love to take there time. Carers UK can point the way. It’s just as bad in England. Some would argue worse.

I finally got sorted, but only after writing to the social justice minister. It took 6 months just to get someone to speak to me. A manager within the service said my application had been with a member of staff since 2 days after I applied and there was no reason for the time it took. This manager said she would personally take ownership of my claim, and true to her word I had a decision 3 days later.
It shouldn’t have to require the intervention of a government minister to get someone to do their job.
