New here

Hi all
Nice to know there is a place you can talk to others who know what your going through
I been looking after my father for few years a lot of ups and downs and sometimes feel I’m not able to speak about how I’m feeling but now being there ld about this site feel less anxious about things

Welcome.

Welcome to the forum. I’ve been a carer for over 40 years, for a total of 10 people, from new born to age 87. It’s very tough, but I was determined to do the best I could. It’s important to recognise when our caree NEEDS more than one tired person caring for them.

Hello & Welcome Diane

No judgements here talk away.

Welcome from me too Diane.

No judgements here and if is a safe place to chat about the issues you are facing. Caring is so very
lonely and isolating and I honestly think one has to go through doing it, before having any understanding. One ‘friend’ told me I was lucky being able to read all day! She really had not got a clue what the lack of freedom and constantly having to change plans actually entailed.

Dear Diane_22091
I am Kristie and i volunteer here on the Carers UK forum as a volunteer online community host. I hope that you can find the answers to your situation by ringing the telephone number i give to you in this message below and also through chatting with fellow carers when you have the time.
So, welcome to the forum! You are not alone in your caring role, i am sure that many on here will understand exactly how you feel and will offer you the support that you need. Caring can be a very lonely time and the pandemic has made caring responsibilities challenging as many carers have been socially restricted and unable to attend social groups etc.
Carers UK are running two online weekly meet ups for carers and you can find the information on how to register at Care For A Cuppa:-Online meetups | Carers UK. The second online weekly meet up is called Share And Learn:-Share and Learn | Carers UK.
Carers UK telephone number is 0808 808 7777 and the line is open from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am-6pm and the email address is (advice@carersuk.org).
They provide information and guidance to unpaid carers. This covers:-
-Benefits And Financial Support
-Your Rights As A Carer In The Work Place
-Carers Assessments And How To Get Support In Your Caring Role
-Services Available To Carers And The People You Care For
-How To Complain Effectively And Challenge Decisions
Best Wishes
Kristie.
