Hello me again!
Does anyone know roughly in the Kent area what my son will need to pay back for his care package once he is in receipt of Universal credit alongside PIP. Currently he doesn’t pay as he has only had PIP to live on and social care have fully funded his care. They pushed me into the Universal Credit claim as they said they would see as me not assisting with his financial costs and they may also see it as him not being in receipt of what he is entitled to. So yes I am now living on my nerves trying to get all the paperwork done for that. However they added once he is in receipt they need to know. So wondering what they will expect back once we have UC in place as standard? We are in Kent.

Hi @Kind12 , I would strongly recommend emailing our Carers UK advice team with this query as they should be able to guide you around next steps: advice@carersuk.org
Best of luck with it all,
Jane

I’ve just “migrated” from Income Support to Universal Credit. Some of those dealing with claims have been contracted in to help, and had an urgent need for further training. Wouldn’t even accept we both had passports, they wouldn’t accept them for verification purposes. I was asked to bring details of landlord and rent, which I had in an email from the letting agent, then told they needed a copy of the tenancy agreement. All wanted to see a utility bill and a bank statement, despite the fact I’d lived in the same house for 50 years and my son lived at his flat for 15 years. My top tip is to gather all this information together in a ring binder!

@Kind12 , @bowlingbun and @jane.butler are right. Universal Credit is a pain to apply for. I’m trying to do so but for different reasons. Get as much proof and information as you can. Because, when you deal with the UC people directly, they may try to make things difficult.
