I have had to accept the fear and terror of my daughter living alone with schizophrenia.
She has been brave but it has left both myself and her with trauma.
Mental health crises teams have helped a bit but mostly it has been me and my husband going to help at anytime night and day. She recently tried to take her life.
Thich Nhat Hanh’s book Fear has helped me,
I seem to have somehow talked to myself with compassion which has helped me validate my daughters strength in her suffering and mine.
Things are a bit brighter recently but after 8 years of fear.
My thoughts are with all carers who are afraid.
what a stressful situation. I’m glad you have developed self talk and strategies to help you cope.
I have a few of Thich Nhat Hanh books - you have just reminded me of them - I shall revisit them.
Thanks for your reply.
