I've just found this forum

Hello, I’ve just found this forum. I have a 25 yr old learning-disabled daughter. Partly to secure the flexibility to care for her, I have set myself up as a self-employed one-person company.

I’ve not met anyone else who runs a business and is an unpaid family carer. I’m always looking for ways to do it better, I don’t think I’m doing it very well so far. I feel that I’m failing at both tasks, and I wonder whether I should be more open with potential clients that I have caring responsibilities.

I’d love to hear from others who care and run a business, to share ideas how they manage.

Thanks,

Daniel

Welcome to the forum. My son, now 47, was brain damaged at birth. Some parts work normally (he can drive a 10 ton steam engine on his own!) but he can’t read, write or do any maths. I juggled caring with running a business for years.

Hi,
I work in medicine and care for my adult daughter with schizophrenia,
I have a partner to help,
Sometimes I feel work keeps me sane,
Gives me structure,
You sound like your doing amazingly to juggle things,
Warm wishes,
I hang out on the roll call thread mainly as I find it supportive,
Warmly Ula
