I don't know what to do anymore

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well and coping in what is a very difficult time.

My own challenges that I face stem from an on-going problems with current care company, the worry of risk to my mother who has Parkinson’s through carers visiting, and my own personal situation and caring duties which have intensified massively since the lockdown, and I don’t know which way to turn anymore.

My mother changed care company in December 2019 as the previous one could not continue, and the only one that social services could find would do min 5 hours a day (1 hour per visit) and my mother has to pay £300 per month to top up. I also would spend a lot of time visiting her while I pursued self employment having recently had a loan from transmitstartups.

I’ve never heard of anyone getting FIVE hours a day!!

Please can you tell us more about mum’s situation. If she is severely disabled, has anyone told you about NHS Continuing Healthcare, FREE care paid for by the NHS.

Hi Peseklein, welcome to the forum

Sorry to hear about your worries and problems with your Mum’s care. You’re not alone in finding this situation stressful, I’m sure many on here can relate to how you’re feeling.

Have a look through our Covid advice pages and make sure you’re getting all the help you can. It’s also important to look after your own well being and there’s advice for that too:

If you’d like to chat to other carers, we’re hosting regular online meet ups where we get together over a cup of tea, share experiences and offer support. These are running every day next week for Carers Week. Do join us if you can:

Best wishes
