@Charlesh47
I’m not in that much discomfort !!
Not in any really
Dunno. Think it was Halloween. Gill complained that I hadn’t helped with the cooking. “But I did the Mash”… Don’t remember much after that.
Ah so a good lot of potatoes - it must have been a Monster Mash !
Haaaa Comic and the not-so-straight-man strike again…
It’s a cross between ‘Thriller’ - HokiKokey- and Timewarp!..that or that annoying little girl who went ‘I’ll scream and scream and scream until I’m sick!’
I’ll to the Pepper grinding dance move to go with the Monster Mash…or something by Salt and Pepper
Where’s cousin IT or The Hand when you need them?
@Pet66 its still early days and you have experienced a trauma - being blue lighted to hospital is scary stuff; plus all the previous months of waiting for scans and tests.
Is there swelling around he pacemaker site? I wonder if that is why it is still sticking out?
Constipation is horrible, I hope the GP can come up with a plan to manage this side effect or give an alternative.
It will take awhile to believe you can do stuff without being breathless, but, totally different I know, when my joints are behaving and my walking is as good as it gets - I still marvel at this.
There doesn’t seem to be swelling. Family have seen it and don’t feel there is. I think one of the dissolving stitches is still there.
Have a feeling the Dr will tell me to ask the consultant about the anticoagulant.
The booklet states it can take the pacemaker at least 6 to 8 weeks ( sometimes much longer) to settle
And WHICH of us - may I ask - is the no-so-straight-man ??? Is that an insult to Charles?
G says I look like Cousin IT in some old photos where I have a rabbit on my head (it was the fashion in those days) - as for “Thing” I could so with a visit from him to scratch my back. Been playing with Buster and Pretzel in new mown hay this afternoon so rather itchy.
After all that running around B has collapsed in a heap and I think he will just sleep til 7am - yey!!
Hi folks, a gentle reminder with my mod’s hat on to stay on topic please. This is Pet66’s topic about her pacemaker.
Feel free to banter on Roll call.
Morning everyone
I had my pacemaker check yesterday. All is well and I can resume doing " normal " things like pegging washing on the line (weather permitting which is a joke just lately) Didn’t see the consultant as I thought, that’s on the 9th August. Hadn’t realised that will have a monitor by my bed to record the heartbeats. Suppose I will get used to it. Really don’t feel very fit so can gradually do something about it now. Very thankful to all of the teams that have been involved, all so caring.
I met the lady who was in the next bed to me. Bless her she seemed so pleased to see me, and I was pleased to see her looking so much better. Had a chat which was very nice.
Great news the.
Slow but sure progress which is the right way to do things. Very soon, I am sure you will forget you have it. I had a friend who had one fitted in his teens and now late thirties and he lives a perfectly normal life and doesn’t even think about it. No one would know other than a slight lump in his chest and a small scar.
Glad to hear you passed your MOT without needing work done!
Aww that’s great @Pet66 Is the breathing and sleeping easier? Hope so.
take care xoxo
@Pet66….so glad to hear that all is well. That was nice for you to meet the lady who was next to you when you had the op done. It will take time to build up your strength. Take it easy.
@Victoria_1806
I’m not nearly as breathless as I was, still occasionally but I’m sure it’s because my fitness levels need building up. Sleep is fair to good. Thank you for asking xx
@Pet66 YAY and phew…this sounds a big step forward…yes slow and steady build up of strength and fitness will bring your lungs and heart back into alignment…don’t try to do too many hills is my advice! And no lifting things off the floor pls!
take care hon xoxo
@Pet66 that’s great news.
Lovely you saw the lady from the bed next to yours for a catch up.
Looks like we have some excellent drying weather on it’s way so you’ll soon be getting a chance to see what your arm thinks about having to pull it’s weight again!
Be good to start working on your fitness again.
Morning
Hospital appointment yesterday for a review. Went well. Pacemaker is doing what it’s supposed to. No extra medication needed thankfully. Consultant said he will review in 6months. Will have to take anticoagulants permanently.
My blood pressure was raised a little because I was rushed from one section to another. There in plenty of time and not moaning that I wasn’t kept waiting. I did feel a little like Zebedee!
Still not feeling as fit as I did. Put that down to the changes in weather. Consultant also said it’s a common effect that people with pacemakers can have anxiety moments especially after being rushed into coronary unit. He was pleased when I told him I council myself and count my blessings.
@Pet66 great news re not having to take additional medication on top of the anticoagulants. It sounds a very hectic appointment but good not lots of waiting around. Orthopaedics never used to be that organised. Different hospital though. Sounds like he found your outlook refreshing. Do they offer any cardio / fitness rehab?
@Melly1
I wasn’t offered any advice on cardio fitness /rehabilitation. Expect it’s for people who have had heart attacks. I’ve started doing the stand up / sit down without holding on to the side. Surprised me when I managed xx
That’s good.
You could ask your GP what’s available - might be able to prescribe some exercise or recommend something.
