Morning
Pacemaker check today. Then will be given the monitor which apparently sits on bedside cabinet. I’m not keen to be honest. Will ask a couple of questions today.
Back later
@Pet66….hi, hope it all goes well.
@Pet66 I’ll be thinking of you. best wishes and HUGS
Hugs from me too. Hopefully they can answer all your concerns.
@Pet66 Hugs from me too. I wonder if your area offers ‘Pulm Rehab’ courses? I have to say although husband was non compliant at the course, the staff were very good. We did have several people on the course who had heart problems and I know at least 2 mentioned pacemakers. There will be a waiting list but worth a go?
Thanks to all who have sent me good wishes. Much appreciated.
The check up went really well.
. It’s doing its job and said no concerns. The monitor wasn’t even mentioned. Still have to see the consultant when I get the appointment.
I had a taxi to the hospital, but felt good when finished so had a reasonable walk to the bus stop. Something I doubt could have done before.
@Alison_1970 not sure I need pulm rehab to be honest. I know when have pushed myself too far these days. Try to exercise or walk as often as I can. Weather has been against us hasn’t it. Too many goodies over the Christmas/new year. Half small glass of wine made up with tonic water on Christmas eve and day. Otherwise tea total now. Biscuits are my downfall!
Woo woo! Well done.
Sorry been out of touch today as a bit of a chaotic day…
@Pet66 YAY! and phew.
So good to hear it went well AND you could do a ‘reasonable walk’ now - lovely.
HUGS
That’s great news @Pet66 - hope you feel reassured.
Enjoy your biscuits!
Morning everyone
Pacemaker check yesterday.. lovely staff.
Felt positive/ negative when leaving.
Positive because no tweaks were needed. I explained am feeling very slightly more breathless when walking upstairs etc so wondered.
Negative because was told had 91 atrial fibrillations since March? I didn’t know about any but 2 and they were very quickly over. So it was a reminder I have the heart issue.
Took a while to get my head round the pacemaker is doing its job. One was on the 9th July when the heat was unbearable and was up at 4am. The house had retained the heat and needed fresh air. Amazing really how the staff can check back.
I must contact my consultant. The appointment is very late. Feeling in need of reassurance from him.
I’m fine really, just didn’t leave as happy as last time.
My middle grandson took me. We had a treat of a McDonald’s. Not healthy but enjoyed it. Can’t remember the last time I had a takeaway!
Turn that negative into a positive by reminding yourself that the pacemaker did its job perfectly and kept you alive and out of hospital - exactly as it should.
You are/were able to continue your life almost normally.
ENORMOUS

@Pet66….I second what Chris said, the pacemaker is doing its job for you. Glad you enjoyed your Maccies and sending a hug your way too.
@Pet66 It’s really good to hear that the pacemaker is doing its job. I’ve not had a MaccieD in ages either!! What a nice little treat with your grandson!
I hear you though - perhaps it’s the number of of AF episodes that’s making you feel nervous?
I agree with @Chris_22081 and @Sue24 that it’s good to focus on how smoothly everything’s going AND it would be good to have that discussion with your consultant sooner rather than later for your reassurance. You can get the consultants thoughts on your overall heart health, the AF episodes and it’s always good to keep those discussions close
Sometimes, medical staff forget how data can be overwhelming to a non-medical person. Perhaps the information was a bit overwhelming for you.
Sending hugs to you @Pet66.
I’d definitely get the reassurance and clarity that you need, maybe even call back the department you saw yesterday if you have any questions/thoughts that are nagging you. xo
I can fully understand your feelings but look at it this way - YOU didn’t even know that you’d had that many atrial fibrillation events until they told you because your pacemaker is doing what’s it’s supposed to do. It’s also good that it doesn’t need tweaking at this point either ! Yes, the very hot weather (like very cold weather) can affect your heart - which is why the NHS put out health warnings during weather extremes.
I remember when my BiL had his appointments they did usually have to tweak his pacemaker and he was often aware that his had kicked in when it was supposed to.
Just continue to take care of yourself - avoid getting overheated, stay cool and I’m sure you have nothing to worry yourself about.

@Chris_22081 @Sue24 @Victoria_1806 @susieq
Thank you all for your words of reassurance. Helps me very much.
I feel more positive today
As my appointment is very late with the consultant, ( said see you in 6 months) it’s now been nearly a year, I have emailed his secretary. I realise the hospitals are very busy. Would be useful to have the appointment never the less.
@Pet66 Absolutely, if you have the secretary’s telephone number, give the secretary a call - I always prefer calling because they’re always empathetic and you can express how reassuring it would be for you.
Hospitals are always busy but please don’t let that put you off from calling/getting an appointment now. Your peace of mind is important, @Pet66…as L’Oreal says…‘because you’re worth it!’ ![]()
@Victoria_1806
I may telephone. However I have the email as proof .
Both consultant and his secretary are very understanding ( hope they still are!)
The L’Oréal advert. Sadly can’t use it. Have sensitive skin. Have to stick to another brand. L E.
Oh nice response @Pet66 - that was very quick !!!
