Hi Everyone
My name is Matthew and i have been a carer for my Grandfather ,93 for the last 6 years
As much as it is satisfying being completely 100% here for him, as well as live in his house with him, It has been a massive challenge for myself both mentally,Physically,Psychologically as well with no support from anywhere or family, and as my carers income is so low i am now finding this role very very difficult as i suffer with a mental health condition myself.
Does anyone have any advice for me please as i have found very little support online, and i am struggling now myself.
Many Thanks
Matthew

Hi Matthew, welcome to the forum.
I’m the other end of the M3 from you, in the New Forest.
You do NOT have to do this, you have a right to a good life, your own home, and family.
It makes my blood boil whenever I hear of grandchildren being used like sacrificial lambs by the rest of the family. I’ve been one too!! My brothers would visit mum once a year if she was lucky, one was only in Haslemere, and then they would tell me what more I should be doing for her, when I was disabled myself with a brain damaged child to look after!!!
Tell us a bit more about your grandfather.
What does he need help with?
Does he have a specific illness?
Does he own or rent his home?
Does he have over £23,000 in savings?
I’ll be back later.
Hi Matthew,
Wishing you a warm welcome to the forum.
Firstly, you need to take care of your own well-being. The fact you have asked for help is a good thing. I know first hand how difficult it can be being a carer for a grandparent Please know, you’re not alone, we are sure that many on here will understand exactly how you feel and offer support.
