Does anybody know why my carers allowance would affect my mothers housing benefit ? She lives alone.
Dear Denise_2108
Hi. My name is Kristie and i volunteer as an Online Community Host on the Forum. My advice to you would be to ring our telephone number or email us details of which are given below. Im sure also if fellow carers know the answer to your problem they will give you advice on your problem.
So my initial words will be welcome to the forum! You are not alone in your caring role and we are sure that many on here will understand exactly how you feel and offer support as i have said above. Caring can be very lonely and the pandemic has made caring responsibilities challenging as many carers have been socially restricted and unable to attend social groups etc.
Carers UK are running two online weekly meet ups for carers and you can find the information on how to register at Care For A Cuppa:-Online meetups | Carers UK. The second one is Share And Learn:-Share and Learn | Carers UK.
Our Telephone Number is 0808 808 7777 and we are open Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm and our Email Address is (advice@carersuk.org).
They provide information and guidance to unpaid carers. This covers:-
-Benefits And Financial Support
-Your Rights As A Carer In The Workplace
-Carers Assessments And How To Get Support In Your Caring Role
-Services Available To Carers And The People You Care For
-How To Complain Effectively And Challenge Decisions
I hope you can either give Carers UK a telephone ring or email us. We will get back to you.
Best Wishes
Kristie
I’m not an expert in this area, these issues don’t apply to me.
However, I do know that If someone is living alone, and no one is claiming Carers Allowance in relation to their care, they get an additional premium.
If someone is caring for them, they don’t get this premium.
