We’ve been suddenly sent a bill for over £10k, which would be debilitating, for overpayments dating back to 2018. Looking at wage slips, the overpayments were tiny. If calculated annually (which they suggested and promised to do in the Mandatory Reconsideration due to variable earnings, but then didn’t do it when the final decision came through) it was only by an average of 48p per week in one of the years. They’d also told us we didn’t need to report weekly changes unless they were significant, which they never were.
We have to appeal, but have no-one to help us. We’re talking to CAB, but they seem to be very fixed on finding out whether DWP made any technical calculation mistakes, which they may not have done, and will not support if they haven’t.
Has anybody been through anything like this and perhaps even won a tribunal appeal? Would you be willing to speak with me to help me understand how to approach it?
