please help.

Hi there.

I wonder if anyone can help. I am a non paid carer for my mom. And she as paid carers seeing her 4 times a day. My moms got fungal nail infection pretty bad for that shes taking tablets. But the carer washes her feet and sometimes she does not want it done but the carer forces her, Can she do that if my mom says no can she still do it against my moms wishes?

Any help would be great.

It’s really important to keep the feet clean, use clean towels every time and apply powder or cream. Maybe the carer and you can try to think of the best way of persuading mum?

Does Mum have “Mental Capacity”?

If so, her wishes ought to be respected, however ridiculous they may seem.

Why doesn’t she want her feet washed?

The best treatment for nail fungus is Amorolfine 5% w/v. It is like nail varnish that goes on toenails. It needs to be used once or twice each week and can take up to a year to completely get rid of the fungus.
You can get Amorolfine over the counter or on prescription from GP. Costs about £15.

If Amorolfine doesn’t resolve the issue, then tablets are prescribed for serious infections.
