Hi, I am carla, I care for my husband who has complex PTSD and he served in the Royal Marines for 10 years. I have 3 children, two of which have autism… life can be challenging and difficult at times, especially with lockdown 3 upon us.
Have joined as was signposted, hopefully to gain some support and be able to talk to others who understand. X
Hi Carla, welcome to the forum. My son is now 41 brain damaged at birth, fit as a flea, can’t read, write or do any maths, but can drive a 10 ton steam roller! There are huge challenges caring for children with special needs under normal circumstances, two under lockdown ten times worse.
How old are your children? Are you getting any help with them?
PTSD is something outside my experience. Does the Army offer any help?
Hi
My children are aged 8 and 11 years. I don’t have any support as such. We get DLA for both of them. They both have moderate learning disabilities. It’s the social aspects, meltdowns and sensory that’s the hardest to cope with. I try my best to manage them with routine etc. However don’t think I qualify for any extra help support. X
Hello Carla
Hello
Welcome to the forum. We’re running series of online weekly meet ups for carers to get together and chat informally. People say they’ve found it really helpful and supportive and it’s nice to be able to take a little bit of time for yourself. There’s no pressure to share any more than you’re comfortable with. Join up details are here:

Do join if you’d like to
Best wishes
