New to the forum! Carer for two family members and working full time!

I’m new to this forum and reaching out due to feeling overhwlemed with the responsibility I currently have with two of my family members, with no one else to help.

I care for my Nan who is 91 and refuses to have carers, shes still independent and does alot of things herself, but I do her shopping, some cleaning, and help her manage her finances and the day to day running of the household. Recently Ive arranged an electrician to come to do safety checks, and also to disconnect her cooker due to her leaving it on at times for her own safety so she just uses the slow cooker and microwave now for meals.

I also care for my sister who has mental health difficulties and learning disability providing emotional support and overseeing her care plan as a representative.

Hi @Sarah_160412345 ,it does sound like you need some extra help and support. I’m in the same situation with my parents. I would suggest a home visit by the fire service that can help put in safety measures for her. Maybe you need to ask your sister social worker if she can have extra support to give you some help while trying to help your nan. Is there any other family members that can help out? maybe you need some one like a PA for your sister or nan but make out that the help you would like to bring in is to be more like home help than a carer.
all the best

Hi Sarah, where does your sister live? Is she getting any outside support?
