Never thought I would be this tired

We overslept and woke up properly about 8.30. Since then I have got husband up, made tea and toast. Stripped his bed. Emptied his urine bottles and disinfected. Given him a strip wash on the Sara Stedy gadget. Gave him medication.Dressed him. Put washing in machine. Comforted him as he was crying and very fed up. Clean sheeted his bed. Hung washing out.
Made coffee for us. Tumble dried some damp towels. Carried my bedding upstairs, got dressed, washed and did hair. Made bacon sandwiches for lunch. Wheeled him to the toilet. Put him to bed for his sleep and now got my feet up for a while. I am tired out.

When he wakes up we are going to sort out his medication together for the week - 20 tablets a day plus eye drops. Maybe have fish and chips tonight, watch TV and that’s another day over.

I cannot imagine I will have the strength to be doing this for the next 10 years. We are both 71.

@Penny go back to social services and tell them you need help or they’ll be taking on two people for care.

Thing is Charles we had “carers” coming in for the first few weeks and they were more of a hindrance than a help.

I couldn’t even begin to explain what help I need. The ball is in their court as I have requested a Carers Assessment.
Thanks.

Once again, theory and practice are very different! The Carers Assessment should have been done before discharge! Yours should have taken the needs of your daughter into consideration too!
