Hi,

I’m currently getting a carer’s assessment through my local council as my mum and dad’s carer, and I’d love to hear from others who’ve been through it. I’m trying to understand what to expect and what support might be offered.

Some specific questions I have:

  • What types of help or funding were you able to access after your assessment?
  • Were there any particular services or resources you found especially helpful?
  • How was the overall process for you?

I was offered a course at the local college, asked for a sewing class. Refused as it didn’t lead to a formal qualification, even after I explained I had a degree! Later I had funding for counselling and gym membership.
