Direct Payments Employing A Family Member

Hello,

I’ve been told twice by the social work office that your absolutely not allowed to employ a family member to care for your relative if you live in the same household, but you are if you live at a different address?

However, i read on government website you are allowed in special circumstances such as religious or communication reasons, however as most authorities nowadays are inept they don’t mention it.

Anyone challenged this with the care ombudsman or through the courts as it seems this is the only way they get serious with you nowadays they think you won’t do anything your the small guy and we run you.

Worth bouncing off the Carers UK Advice Team … they are dealing with this issue.

THE ONLY WAY … in the absence of " Clarification " by the Governmnet.

HOW MANY AT RISK OUT THERE ???

Trouble is , who out there will launch such a case.

A clue ?

Needs to be an individual , or group thereof !

Even then , many who have been receiving DPs , would they then be in a worse financial position ???
