The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has confirmed that unpaid carers are among the groups that will be eligible for a Covid vaccine booster this autumn.
Eligible groups of unpaid carers include:
- Unpaid carers who are eligible for Carer’s Allowance.
- Unpaid carers aged 16-64 years who are the sole or primary carer of an older or disabled person who is at increased risk of COVID-19 mortality and therefore clinically vulnerable. (If you are aged 65 or above, you would be eligible on the grounds of your age.)
You may also be eligible for a Covid vaccine booster as part of a different group - check the government guidance for the full list.
If your GP practice doesn’t already know you’re a carer, we suggest that you contact them and ask them to put your caring status on your record. You can use our guidance to make your request.
