Hi , I’ve been looking into getting the 25 % discount on Council Tax as a carer and have ended up confused ! Is this means tested , it is mentioned in the info I’ve read but can’t work out if it would apply to a carer. ? I live with my 92 yr old mum and I’m her full time carer since last year. She is the named occupier for the tax, she is not mentally impaired . I understand We may be entitled to the discount / exemption but she is worried that it’s means tested and doesn’t want anyone “ nosing into her money “!
Any advice please .
