Claiming Carers allowance

Hello All, My husband had a stroke last year and I have been his carer since August 2021. I am looking into carers allowance but I earn £540.00 a month - with no income tax to pay. I don’t currently pay into a pension - should I and if so what would be the amount I would need to pay to qualify for the allowance?

Also with regards to care costs and things I pay for for my job - what sort of things would these mean?
Thank you for any help in advance. I am useless at filling out these forms!

Thank you

Victoria

Hi Victoria

The earnings limit for Carers Allowance has just gone up from £128 a week net to £132 a week net. If your wages are paid per calendar month, you’re comfortably inside the limit on £124.61 a week net. Or just outside at £135 a week if it’s every 4 weeks.
