I’m currently caring for my husband but not entitled to cares allowance due to my husband getting just mobility allowance, anyone knows if I can get any help with caring or get a free bus pass as I travel with my husband as he can’t get around him self

Your council may issue a Companion bus pass. My son has one as he can’t travel alone.

I applied for a Bus Pass for Graham and it includes Companion travel as well due to his mobility issues. If you can get through to the Council on the phone they should be able to help, or check out their website (some are more user friendly than others). Apparently, it flags up on the bus ticket machine as “+1” so it is not limited to a particular person as the Companion.

Hi thanks for your reply, I have spoke with WMT regarding the companion pass but they have advised that they don’t have funding for the companion bus pass, do you have the direct number for the council who can help me out with this.

@mnas77

Unless you live in the same village / area as @Chris_22081 he is unlikely to know your council number.

You can find your council number here:

But you are probably better to look to on their website to find the number of the department you need, if your council is anything like mine …

Hi @mnas77 I am in South Gloucestershire so, as @Melly1 says it is probably different in your area (WMT - is that West Mids?) and I don’t know what different Councils do about such things. Sorry. If you visit the Council website you should be able to find more info about Concessionary travel for your husband and that should have more info on anything you are entitled to as his carer regarding travel.
