@JayneyT so glad you are taking a strong position. Moments of doubt may creep in but remember YOU have to take care of yourself.
Too late for most of her things then, but just from now, when she raised it, I would take pictures of the property and record what you have done already. Then I would forget all about it and protect yourself. Hope you little dog gets better soon x
@JayneyTā¦.hope your dog is doing okay. Iām sorry things are still so stressful for you with your mum. Keep strong and Iām sending lots of hugs
More madness from Mum in the last few days unfortunately. Having failed to get me to collect her from the care home and take her back to her now empty bungalow, she tried the same thing with my Uncle last night. He too refused to get involved and put it to her that her GP where she had been living had instructed her to go into care and had explained what would happen if she didnāt.
She then said the GP was in fact an actor that I had paid to tell her this. He is apparently also a director of the Company that runs her care home and had only told her to go into care to make money out of her! This now goes beyond stubbornness and into the realms of delusion and paranoia surely?
I let the care manager know and she tried to talk to mum this morning. Mum is insisting she is going to return to the bungalow and I will reinstate the carers she had before. This is all because they have refused her the double room she wants! The CM has called in an advisor from Age Concern who will telephone me before talking to mum apparently and will then try to mediate for us all. Watch this space!
@JayneyT I think the CM sounds great and it is very good she is getting support and advice from an Advisor from Age Concern. Yes I do feel that paranoia is part of Dementia. Does your mother have FTLD? Or if I remember correctly, she has not been diagnosed? The GP being an āActorā is definitely a sign that she is delusional in my opinion. Stay strong - it sounds like your Uncle and everyone else is very much on your side. Very distressing though and I honestly think that Dementia intensifies the negative aspects of the persons personality.
No diagnoses of FTLD or anything else yet! I think I mentioned that the GP attached to the CH refused to look in on mum last week and just said she was stubborn. I have complained formally to the surgery but of course have had no response. She cannot be diagnosed with anything if no one from the surgery speaks to her! But the new delusions are a worry and should surely cause concern with the medical team?
Mum simply canāt return home without my assistance which will not be forthcoming. She cannot get there (itās a good hour away from the CH), she has no key, the place is literally empty, and I will do absolutely nothing to enable her to carry out that threat. The sooner someone finally acknowledges that she is physically and mentally unstable the better.
Well there is no doubt she is a āvulnerable adultā so hopefully that will tip the balance. Stay strong. She can hardly discharge herself if she has no key or no way of getting to her house.
@JayneyT HUGS hon
From the inability to cogitate from A to B to C, and then forget there is an A - clearly demonstrates cognitive disability/impairment.
The Care manager has sounded lovely BUT must see your mother does not have Mental Capacity
The GP practice hasnāt done anything yet?!? GEEZ!
Random thought - can you get a private consultation done? Private GP? Iāve no idea how much it costs but it could be worth it to cut through time and tape?
@Charlesh47 thoughts??
