Hi Rose & Welcome

There is a long term member on the forum who lives in your area of the country. Iā€™m sure they will be along to help.
Have you had any contact with Mind UK.

Hi Rose, welcome to the forum.

I also live in the New Forest.
Have you had a Carers Assessment from HCC yet?
Have you contacted Carers Together in Love Lane, Romsey? They have various events for carers which are supposed to cover the Forest, but it feels that we are now a Forgotten Outpost.
There used to be have a brilliant Princess Royal Trust for Carers coordinator at the Fenwick Hospital in Lyndhurst, but sadly she retired some years ago and moved to Wales. We keep in touch most weeks, She used to organise Christmas Dinners, trips on the Watercress Line etc, for carers and carees.

I also found that several groups were totally focussed on the elderly and dementia sufferers, when I said I was caring for my brain damaged son they had nothing to say to me that was relevant.

I know that there used to be a special carers group for people caring for family with mental health issues that used to meet in Eastleigh once a month, before the pandemic. It may have gone online, I cannot stand Zoom meetings which seem all the rage at the moment!!

Hi Rose,

welcome to the forum.

You are probably familiar with the Mind website, but just in case, here is the link to their support information for those caring for someone with a mental health illness https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/helping-someone-else/carers-friends-family-coping-support/

Although not mental health specific, you may find the Carers UK listening service helpful too https://www.carersuk.org/help-and-advice/get-support/listening-support-service

How old is your daughter?
