New to forum

Hi, I’m new here and looking to connect to those caring for people with paranoid schizophrenia or a mental health disorder in a loved one.

I’ve been trying to offer support to my elderly parents and to my sister who is 43 has always lived at home with them and who has recently been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and put under section 3 of the mental health act.

I’d love to connect with others who have experience of the mental health system, can help me understand the probable treatments and care options and pitfalls. I’m finding it very hard to get information out of the services and unfortunately my parents are so emotionally involved and have some many health problems of their own that they cannot cope or understand the complexities of what they are told.

Hope this group is able to help me out.

Hi Mike & welcome

Have you heard of MIND UK.

Ideally, your parents need to be supported. As does you sister and you.

How has your sister coped with her diagnosis. Has she excepted it.

You parents can have a needs assessment.

As can your sister.
So they could be access as a family.
