Carer’s Leave Bill
Wendy Chamberlain MP’s Private Member’s Bill on Carer’s Leave – which would see millions of unpaid carers who look after older, disabled or seriously ill relatives better supported in the workplace if successful – secured Government support at Second Reading and will reach Report Stage and Third Reading on Friday 3 February 2023 in the House of Commons.
We have created a campaign toolkit to help you support the Bill in the run up to Report Stage and Third Reading. The toolkit contains sample social media posts and shareable graphics for you to use, and a suggested email for you to send to MPs you have a close relationship with prior to Friday 3 February 2023.
On Wednesday 25 January 2023, 36 MPs also attended a Westminster event to back Wendy Chamberlain MP’s Private Member’s Bill on Carer’s Leave. The event was supported by Carers UK, and MPs met with unpaid carers from employers Centrica and TSB – which both have supportive workplace policies for unpaid carers – to better understand employers’ experiences of Carer’s Leave.
Please do continue to share our campaign with other organisations and individuals who may be interested in supporting it.
