We hope you’re keeping well. During this season when colds and flu viruses are common, we’d like to share some info about getting a free flu jab and also guidance on getting support from your GP. Local pharmacies can also be very helpful. Talking to your GP | Carers UK
@Paola_Carers_UK , Yep, get my jabs a few months ago. I’ve had enough needles in my left arm (along with needles used in blood tests), it looks like a pin cushion.
Thank you for sharing @JohnnyBoy
Im in the same boat, my Husbands been in a care home 7 months ive gone round and round in circles with them and they dont listen do they. I listened to advice on here and contact CQC and they do go out to the care home. He cannot walk now since being in there so i am struggling as i really want him home but been advised it be too much for me.
@Jackie66, This just proves that the “safeguards” don’t work. As you said, you end up going round in circles (like circles in a spiral) almost constantly. I like yourself also want to do what’s right for your loved one. But sadly, when you start to question what they do, you get what I call “the evil eye” (a bit extreme I know). Some have the attitude of “why are you questioning us?”. I hope though you don’t give up. Because I won’t. If necessary, be a pain in the neck to them. Also, seek legal advice. Try lawsociety.org. They can point you to people who cangive free legal advice.
Yes it feels like that, i am going to send a letter to the Ombudsmen as it was suggested so will see what hqppens. Im just off to the care home now. Maybe have a chat later if you feel you want to
@Jackie66 , you do so ASAP. I’m going to do something similar regarding the appalling way my mums social worker is treating me.
I send emails to Johns social worker and she mostly ignores me, i havnt found her any help whatsoever, also the Advocate who has been at 2 meetings as John my husband has no capacity to speak for himself, i find the advocate just agrees with social worker, i despise them
@Jackie66 , I had something similar happen to me a couple of weeks ago at the care home in Salford. The lady working with the social worker did the same thing. She just nodded away, not once did she stick up for me. I know hate is a strong word, but that is all I can come up with. I could say something stronger, but I’ll be kicked off the forum. Also, I’ll probably get sued.
Your local council have a quality care team. Look on website under feedback complaints . It will have email address. Write everything to them from start to present day.doesnt matter how many emails you write, write everything single thing.if sending more than one number them. On the first one write more to follow. Put his council number on it. When you have sent it all to quality care team bottom of email Write please acknowledge emails .also ring your local citizens advice bureau you will find number online.ring them tell them everything ,they will do you a letter to the council to. They will send it to you ,you sent it to the council with all your emails to this team.if don’t know how send letter from CAB to council ask the CAB they will write instructs on email with the letter attached which they will send to you.and you send to the council.
When you done that. Send another email to quality care team write request to access all care/core plans and all information for John from the first day he started care to present day. They cannot stop you having these records,.
Do exactly the same to the care home.either send them an email, or write them a letter write it twice so you have copy write request to access all records ,request all notes, incident reports, nursing records,correspondance between staff ,core/ care plans.from when he went in to present day. Send to care home. Ask for knowledgement Of the letter.if the care home asks why you want them just say I want to look at them.
Then do the same thing for the hospital ring pals at the hospital where John was admitted how long was he in hospital he was in twice wasn’t he, ask them request to access all medical records, request all notes, nursing records, correspondence between staff.they will get them you they cannot refuse.you want all these from when he went in hospital from your home and was discharged , and when he went in from the care home and was discharged.
Get all this information.
I’m still reading all your messages on the forum. I don’t know what the CQC have done.if they have done nothing.the citizens advice bureau will also be able to do letter or follow up letter to the CQC about all what has gone on in there. (you may have to ring next day or different day for this as it a lot to do in one appointment. They could do council letter above then they will book you another appointment to do this one.
I leave it there ask for all this information. Next tell you how get CHC assessment but you have to fight. Don’t bother with social worker they will say no before you ask for one. Read my messages on my page about me what been through with hospital and council .you will understand. Hope this all helps. I’ll try work through your message on forum while I’m doing all my complaints to. I hope you are ok, Johnny is going through it to.
Take care.
@Teddybear, appreciate it.
@JohnnyBoy you are very welcome.
