Why does it seem that carers are being totally ignored?

Was just watching the daily Welsh government press briefing and switched off part way through as I was well and truly disappointed when the First Minister for Wales avoided giving a straight answer on what support there is in Wales for unpaid carers during the pandemic. He was asked about the recently announced extension to the shielding period and what support there would be for unpaid carers during that time. He basically went on about why it was necessary, what support there is for those in the shielded group and how he understands it’s a big ask of that group, but ABSOLUTELY no mention of unpaid carers.

Will be interesting to see if he mentions “Carers week” at his briefing on Monday as he has mentioned things like “Volunteers week” and others in the past.
