Finding wife’s mental health problems overwhelming

Hi, I’m new here having spoken to mind on the telephone and having the forum recommended as a useful place to go for advice.

Basically I’m feeling so helpless with my wife’s mental health problems. I have known about her struggles since we met 15 years ago and have spent the majority of that trying to get help for her. I’m so worried that at some point her problems with addiction and depression will lead to her not been here anymore.

Sorry if this is a bit rambling just not sure what I can do

Hi @user32 ,welcome to the forum. I understand where you are coming from as I have the same issues with my mum. Has your wife got a CPN or a mental health social worker? Have you spoken to them? I would suggest speaking to your GP and see if they can help and also have a go at the mental health team and if it gets to much for you to handle call 999 or take her in to A&E and let them deal with her. You could speak to the Charity MIND who can help https://www.mind.org.uk/

Also I do go on one of the mental health forum and they do help you understand how to work with mental health issues.https://www.mentalhealthforum.net/

I do hope you get the help and support you need.

Sorry the hear you’re going through a tough time. It sounds like you and your wife are very close. There are mental health charities (such as CALM) or ask your local doctor for a mental health referral. I too am going through a tough time mentally albeit for different reasons. Also, Samaritans.org could be helpful. Anyway, hope this helps. My best you and your wife.
