Hi All, there will be a talk about it on BBC breakfast this morning on 17/4/25 but this is what is happening and could affect carers role.

Use the search bar and type in “carers”.
It worries me that the Teams working to keep people out of hospital are going to put a huge amount of pressure on Family Carers. Meaning we will be expected to be available 24/7. I really hope I am wrong but several years ago when E had cellilitus I was told that he SHOULD be taken to hospital but since he had me there and they asked if I was around all the time, then they would send it District Nurses to monitor. This meant that I literally could not leave the house. Sorry this is no longer a viable option for me now and if I was put in that position again I would be very tempted to go and see a solicitor and get legal advice. To me there should be more help available for those not fit to go home with out 24/7 supervision but are not ill enough to need a hospital bed.
Things like flexible GP appointments are supposed to be in existence already, but when I raised this issue with my practice manager I was told things have moved on, they can’t do that any more, or prioritise one group of patients as that was unfair on the others!

The surveys on the Change NHS website are now closed as we finalise the Plan ahead of its publication in June. This follows months of engagement with staff and the public online and in-person across England, culminating in the Change NHS National Summit held on the 4 April. This brought together hundreds of members of the public and health and care staff to help us develop the 10 Year Health Plan.
You can now head to change.nhs.uk to find out what participants and the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care had to say about the Summit, and you can read more about the engagement that has taken place since last October.
