Carers Wales runs a variety of seminars and training throughout the year. 

These sessions are free for carers and cover a range of subjects.

Social Enterprise - An introduction to Co-operatives and Social Enterprises - Tuesday 14th September - 10am

This event is being hosted by Carers Wales and the Wales Co-op Centre. The event will introduce the opportunities that collaborative working via social enterprises and co-operatives can offer to support unpaid carers in their caring role.

We will explain what social enterprises and community cooperatives are, what they can look like for carers in finding new and innovative ways to improve wellbeing and influence the ways in which the needs of the person/s cared for are met. Social enterprises and community cooperatives provide an opportunity to ensure care truly reflects carers’ needs and requirements.

Change your Thinking, Get Results - Wednesday 15 September 2021 - 10am-12pm (Training session)

Recognise unrealistic or unhelpful thought patterns that get in the way of your career or personal success. Recognise your values and beliefs, calm your inner critic and replace negative thoughts with a positive mind set.

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemies. If confidence holds you back or you feel stuck in a rut, let us help you change your thinking and get the results you want.

Supporting Carers In The Workplace - Thursday 23rd September 2021 - 9.30am - 12pm

Carers Wales event and see how we can support you and those you work with to become a wellbeing champion or establish and grow a ‘peer to peer’ support network to benefit unpaid carers in your workplace.

Over the course of 2.5 hours we will provide you with –

  • The skills to be able to recognise, support and signpost working carers
  • Inspiration to plan in house events to promote working carers awareness
  • Ongoing support, awareness training, resources, and toolkit
  • Access to our free membership
  • Ongoing support from other volunteers

Create a Winning CV - Tuesday 5 October 2021 - 1 - 2pm (Webinar)

Carer Representation Training (Introductory) - Tuesday 12th October - 5.30pm

Are you interested in having a voice to influence decisions for unpaid carers , or have you recently become involved in an organization where you speak on behalf of other unpaid carers?

We have created “Being a Carer Representative: Introductory Training” to give you the skills and knowledge to get started as a carer representative. The training will cover what it means to be a Carer Representative and how you can get involved in shaping services and influencing diverse organisations across Wales for unpaid carers. The training will further provide an introduction to skills that will enable you to maximise your influence as a carer representative, putting across your case and influencing decision makers to achieve change for unpaid carers.

Carer Representation Training (Advanced) - Wednesday 13th October - 5.30pm

Do you already have a reasonable level of experience in representing unpaid carers and influencing services? Do you want to develop your existing skills and knowledge to enhance your effectiveness as a Carer Representative?

We have created “Advanced Carer Representation Training” to equip you with skills and knowledge to develop your effectiveness as an experienced Carer Representative. The training will inform you about the current policy context that shapes the work of the organizations you engage with, where decisions are taken in the Health and Social Carer system in Wales and how you can lobby different levels of decision makers. The training will further provide advice on how to enhance your influencing and negotiating skills and will also consider case studies of the experiences of other Carer Representatives to enable attendees to draw lessons for their own roles speaking up for unpaid carers.

Discover your Personal Brand - Friday 19 November 2021 - 12.30pm - 2.30pm (Training Session)

Whether you realise it or not, you have a personal brand. Put simply, it’s what people say about you when you’re not in the room. It’s your reputation, how others perceive you. People will have an opinion of you because of what you say, how you act, how you look and how you make them feel. You can choose to ignore this but your brand will not go unnoticed. You can and should choose to control it; start cultivating a brand to be proud of; ensuring people see you in a way that you want to be seen. Your reputation and credibility are everything. How you’re perceived by those inside your network and by those you’ve yet to meet can determine future success or failure.

Caring can be rewarding but also very isolating. You may not know about what your legal rights are, what help may be available and what you can ask for, how to ask, or indeed who to ask.

Our self-advocacy training aims to help you understand your rights as a carer, the system, as well as consider ways for you to be able to negotiate with professionals in a positive way.

This training aims to give you the information and skills to get your message across effectively to ensure your needs are properly considered.

Communicate your Brand Online - Monday 10 January 2022 - 2-3pm (Webinar)

Whether you are looking for a new job or positioning yourself for a new career or that promotion; an online presence that shows off your character and strengths, skills and experience (your brand) will help you in so many ways.

This webinar will help you create a powerful LinkedIn profile that will build your network, making you visible in a noisy and busy space.

Get that Interview, Get that Job - Thursday 17 February 2022- 10am - 12pm (Training Session)

Whether you are looking to change your career or get that promotion you are going to need jump through some hoops to get there. Firstly, to get in front of the recruiter you have to complete an application form and make the shortlist, then you have to wow them at interview to get the position. Yet, many of us are out of practise when it comes to applications and interviews which is why we have created this course.

Join us and learn the valuable skills to help you stand out and be successful.

  • To gain knowledge and confidence to sell yourself successfully in the application and interview process

Stand Up, Speak Out - Tuesday 8 March 2022 - 1 - 2pm (Webinar)

Learning to present is widely recognised as a key career progression skill. People who are good presenters/speakers tend to get promoted more
easily, more often. This taster session is aimed at those who want to develop their ability to speak up in meetings and stand up to present and will include practical activities, tools and tips.
