I cared for my husband on my own for six years uwith ntil he went into residential care two years (and one day!) ago. My husband’s complex neurological condition affects him physically, mentally and emotionally and I find I have to ‘manage’ his needs in the care home. As my husband is completely dependent upon me, I find it difficult to withhold visiting him daily, particularly as I have nothing to fill my afternoons. (I do have morning activities most mornings but as I filled our first years caring for him, I think I might have ‘burnt my boats’ so to speak.
