Our major new report: The ‘tipping point’ - When unpaid carers can no longer combine caring with paid employment was published today*.*
Based on the experiences of thousands of carers, this powerful report explores the reasons why people are being pushed to the point where they feel they have no choice but to reduce their hours or leave work altogether.
Carers told us about the combined pressures forcing them out of employment including workplaces that aren’t flexible, the stress and exhaustion from trying to juggle care with work, and the lack of affordable, reliable social care. Urgent action is needed across the board to stop carers’ finances, pensions, health and wellbeing from being put at risk by being forced out of paid work.
That’s why the UK Government’s up-and-coming consultation on employment rights for carers is so important. This offers us a vital chance to push for a statutory right to paid Carer’s Leave, so carers are not forced to choose between paid work and caring.

Is this SIXTY page report document available in printed format as not everyone can afford to download and print their own copy , particularly with the number of colour photographs and a whole page in red. That’s very nicely designed for professional print copy, but not for domestic printers which then “drink” ink. Please remember that some Members do not find it easy to read such a long document on screen. Not to have it available in this way is excluding some members by not making it an Accessible resource. I ask because you make no reference to it being available other than as a download.
As it is the Membership who contributed to the Report, I feel it should be made totally Accessible. As I see it was endorsed/sponsored by Standard Life, surely they could/should be paying for some print copies to be made available.
May I ask what was Standard LIfe’s involvement in the Survey? What did they fund, if anything as having their logo on the front cover seems to indicate they have paid for advertising. I have begun scanning through and have only found that they “Funded the research”. I’d be interested to know what benefit they received from the Research.
I don’t need a printed copy, but thank you for the offer. It would be useful to ensure Members all know they can get a printed copy if they need it though rather than just mentioning a download.
