Hello everyone,
I’m hoping to connect with other carers who may have experienced something similar to my situation and may be able to offer advice, support or simply share their experiences.
I am currently 27 and live at home with my parents. My mum and I both work full time and help care for my dad who has advanced MS. My mum is due to go in for surgery tomorrow. I am currently struggling with my anxiety and have been having therapy to try and cope. I find it overwhelming given my responsibilities at home and hold down a good job. My mum has organised carers for the first 5 mornings post her op but this is unlikely to continue due to the financial implication. They also do not qualify for any financial support and they are very reluctant for social care to get involved.
I have looked locally to Leicestershire for support for younger people like me however they are mainly coffee mornings when I am at work for older carers or befriending services for the person I care for. I feel like I need some support for me but not sure where to go or what to do given my age. It would be lovely to connect with people a similar age or any advice or suggestions anyone has.
Thank you for taking the time to read and any words of encouragement or advice would be so greatly appreciated
Best wishes
S
