Direct payments investigations

Anyone been through been investigated for a transaction/s on there direct payment account which is highlighted not in care plan please explain.

There is supposed to be a light touch approach for direct payments, so they can be used for anything related to someone’s care needs, not just what a plan says.

Light touch is recommended, but most authorities ignore that: their finance departments monitor spending and they have a reputation for being completely inflexible.

i bought things that they claimed where not in the care plan i had to explain and they accepted it they didnt ask for receipts of confirmation from the account holder! i had no power of attorney either.

The problem is you cannot contact them its a team of administrators who dont know the regulations they just email the social workers apparantely then they call out of the blue in 2-4 months time when you have forgotton everything.

AI says you cannot be lifetime banned from them it maybe you are asked to make repayments or you get a ban on managing them yourself.

Also, if moving to a different part of the city and the authority changes i heard they link it rather than a complete new assessement.

As according to them you cannot get a carers assessment while the assessed for has a budget its incorperated to their needs first then your needs 2nd which i think is illegal. You can get a carers assessment independent of cared fors assessment if they dont have a budget already setup.
